Without and with bird deterrent

A small brush. A big difference.

Without a brush, the space under your panels is a dry, sheltered nesting spot. With the brush, that gap is closed, and air can still flow through.

How it works

A smart brush. Easy to fit.

See how to fit the brush along the edge of the panel. No drilling or screws, and a neat finish on your roof.

Top: clearing the space, sliding the brush under the panel and done. Bottom: the bristles, the core of twisted steel wire and the brush under a wet panel
Top: clearing the space, fitting the brush and making sure it sits firmly. Bottom: the plastic bristles, the core of twisted steel wire and the brush under a wet solar panel.
  1. Clear the space

Remove leaves and old nesting material and measure the gap between roof tile and panel. If there's still a nest with young birds, wait until they have fledged.

  2. Slide the brush underneath

Push the brush under the panel along the edge. It wedges itself in place, no drilling or screws.

  3. Done, and air still flows

Birds can no longer get underneath and your panels stay ventilated. Too long? Bend the end over, don't cut the brush.

Only work on your roof if you can reach it safely. In doubt? Leave the fitting to an installer.

Pigeons look for a sheltered ledge. The space under your panels is one.
The problem

Why you want to close off that space

Under a solar panel it is dry, warm and sheltered. For pigeons and starlings that is the perfect place to nest, and for you it is the start of four problems.

  • Cables and connectors

Nesting material gets in between the cabling and the connectors. A chewed or pulled-loose cable causes a fault, and a technician on the roof costs more than a roll of brush.

  • Lower yield

Twigs, feathers and droppings trap the heat under the panel and dirty the glass. A panel that can't get rid of its heat produces less.

  • Fire risk

Dry nesting material against damaged wiring under a warm panel is a combination you don't want on your roof.

  • Nuisance and cleaning up

Scrabbling from sunrise, a gutter full of feathers and droppings on the walls. You may only remove a nest once there are no young left in it; prevention is always allowed.

Three diameters, that's all the choice there is

The brush needs to be slightly thicker than the gap between your roof tile and the panel, so it stays wedged in. Measure that gap and choose the matching size.

Not sure which size you need?

Answer a few short questions about your roof and your panels. You'll then know which diameter you need and how many metres to order.

How it works

  1. We count rolls, not boxes. A box of 8 metres Ø20 counts as 4 rolls.
  2. All sizes count together. Even if you order a mix of sizes.
  3. A full pallet is: 60 rolls Ø1248 rolls Ø1548 rolls Ø20

In the cart you can see how full your pallet is. More about the pallet discount

Frequently asked questions

Which diameter do I need?

Measure the gap between your roof tile and the underside of the panel. Choose a brush that is slightly thicker than that gap: it then wedges itself in and you don't need to fix anything. If in doubt, choose the larger size: too thick works, too thin doesn't.

Do I need to drill or screw?

No. The brush is wedged between the panels and the roof. You don't need any tools and you don't make any holes in your roof or your panels. So the warranty on your installation is unaffected too.

How many metres do I need?

Measure the sides of your panel array that are open. Usually that is the bottom edge and the two sides; the top often already sits against the ridge. Add those metres together and round up. If a roll is too long, you bend the end over. Do not cut the brush, because that damages it.

When will my order arrive?

Order Monday to Thursday before 20:00 and your order is expected to arrive the next day. On Friday the cut-off is 15:00; then we expect to deliver on Saturday. Order on Friday after 15:00 or at the weekend and your order is expected on Tuesday.

Shipping to the Netherlands and Belgium is free from € 50; below that we charge a fixed shipping fee.

How does the pallet discount work?

Order a lot and you get a discount: 5% from 1 full pallet and 10% from 2 full pallets.

A full pallet is 60 rolls of Ø12, 48 rolls of Ø15 or 48 rolls of Ø20. We count rolls, not boxes: a box of 8 metres Ø20 counts as 4 rolls. All sizes in your order count together.

Can I order as a business?

Yes. Set the switch at the top to excl. VAT if you prefer to work with net prices; the shop remembers that choice. The VAT amount is always shown separately at checkout, and you receive your invoice by email.
