Privacy policy
Birdstopper is an online shop run by DealDonkey B.V. When you order from us or send us a message, you leave data with us. Below you can read what we do with it. In doing so, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible
DealDonkey B.V., Haverstraat 31, 2153 GB Nieuw-Vennep, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 52030873. Questions about privacy? Email info@birdstopper.nl.
What data we use and why
- Your name and delivery address. Needed to have your parcel delivered and to draw up the invoice.
- Your email address. We use it to send you your order confirmation, the invoice and the message that your parcel is on its way. We also use it to reply when you ask us something.
- Your phone number. The carrier uses it for delivery, for example to tell you in which time slot your parcel will arrive. We only call if there is an issue with your order.
- Your payment. Payments are handled by Pay.nl. We can see whether you have paid and with which method, but we never see your bank details or card number, so we don't store them either.
- What you ordered. Needed to pick and ship the right rolls, and later to help you with a guarantee claim, an exchange or a return.
- Your message to us. Whatever you send us by email or WhatsApp, we keep for as long as needed to help you properly.
- Where you came from. If you consent to statistics cookies, the shop system records how you arrived at this online shop and we store that with your order. What exactly is stored and how you can refuse it is explained below under "Cookies and traffic source tracking".
- Your opinion about your order. A few days after your payment, you may receive an invitation from Trustpilot to write a review about us. For this, Trustpilot receives your name, your email address and your order number. Whether you write a review is up to you.
We use this data to carry out the purchase and to comply with the law, for example the rules on invoices. We don't share it with advertising networks and we don't use it to show you targeted advertising. Decisions about your order are always made by a person; no computer decides on its own whether you may buy something.
We don't sell your data
Your data is not for sale and we don't pass it on for other companies' advertising. It only goes to parties needed to process your order, or to an authority if the law requires us to.
Who else processes your data
- DealDonkey B.V. Your order arrives in our own systems and is shipped from our warehouse in Nieuw-Vennep. Customer service is also handled by DealDonkey.
- Shopify. This online shop runs on Shopify (Shopify International Limited, Ireland). Shopify stores your order and your customer details for us and handles the checkout.
- Picqer. Our warehouse system. Your name, address and order go to Picqer, so that we pick the right rolls and create the shipping label.
- Pay.nl. Our payment provider. Your payment takes place in the Pay.nl environment. They see your payment details, we don't. If you choose to pay later, Billink also receives the details needed for that.
- The carrier. Your name, address, email address and phone number go to the delivery company that brings your parcel, so that you receive it and can track it.
- Trustpilot. Sends the review invitation on our behalf (Trustpilot A/S, Denmark).
- Cloudflare. Traffic to this website runs through Cloudflare, which protects the site against abuse and makes it faster. Among other things, this involves processing your IP address.
- Our accounts. Invoices are part of our bookkeeping. We have to keep them for seven years and be able to show them to the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) on request.
Shopify and Cloudflare may also process data outside the European Union, for example in Canada or the United States. This is done on the basis of the agreements drawn up by the European Commission for this purpose.
Cookies and traffic source tracking
A cookie is a small file that a website places in your browser. This online shop uses two kinds, and the difference between them matters.
Cookies needed to place an order
Shopify, the shop system this online shop runs on, uses cookies to remember what is in your cart (cart, cart_currency), which language and country you have chosen (localization) and how far you have got with checking out. If you log in to your account, a cookie is added for that. Your answer to the cookie banner is also stored in a cookie (_tracking_consent), so we don't have to ask again on every page. Without these cookies you cannot place an order, so we don't ask for your consent for them. Cloudflare may also place a technical cookie to distinguish real visitors from automated traffic.
Cookies that measure where you come from
If you accept the cookie banner, Shopify places statistics cookies in your browser, such as _shopify_y, _shopify_s, _shopify_sa_p and _shopify_sa_t. Among other things, these keep track of:
- how you arrived here: directly, via a search engine, via a link on another website or via an advertisement;
- the website you clicked from, known as the referrer;
- the campaign data that sometimes comes along with a link in the address bar, such as utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign;
- the page on which you arrived;
- how often you have visited this online shop before.
If you place an order, that traffic source is stored with your order. This shows us which pages and which adverts lead to orders, so we know where to focus our attention and our budget. These cookies are not read by any advertising network.
These cookies are not needed to place an order, which is why we ask for your consent first. If you click reject, or make no choice, they are not placed and the traffic source on your order stays empty. Ordering works as normal. You can always change your choice later via the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page. An overview of all Shopify cookies is available at shopify.com/legal/cookies.
What you won't find here
The pages of this online shop contain no tracking code from any advertising network. Apart from Shopify's own statistics, there is no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager and no pixel from Facebook or any other network. The size finder does its calculations in your own browser: what you enter about your roof and your panels is not sent to us and not stored. Only when you press the button to add the suggested package to your cart is that package sent to us, just like any other product you add to your cart.
How long we keep your data
- We keep orders and invoices for seven years, as required by the Dutch Tax Administration. The traffic source belonging to an order is stored in that order and is therefore kept for the same period.
- We keep emails and WhatsApp messages about an order for as long as they are useful for guarantee and service, and then delete them.
Security
This website uses a secure connection, the padlock in your browser. Only employees who need your data to process your order can access it, and they each work with their own account. As mentioned, your payment details never reach us.
Links to other websites
If you click a link to another website, for example to dealdonkey.com or to the carrier's site, that party's privacy policy applies there. We have no influence over what they do with your data.
Your rights
You may ask us what data we hold about you, have it corrected if something is wrong and have it deleted. You can also object to its use or ask for your data to be transferred. Send your request to info@birdstopper.nl. We will respond within one month. To avoid giving data to the wrong person, we may ask you to prove that it's really you.
Please note: data we are required to keep for seven years for the Dutch Tax Administration cannot be deleted earlier. We will delete the rest.
A complaint about privacy
Do you feel we are not handling your data properly? Please email us first, as we'd much rather resolve it with you ourselves. If we can't reach a solution together, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) via autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
Changes
If anything changes in our online shop, we will update this privacy policy. Below you can see when we last did so.
